FO lace garter shawl

Simple garter, sometimes we just need it, sometimes you just need to garter through the days for a while, and then you need some lace, and then you need some leafes. I love all of those things, so when I first saw this pattern I knew I had to make it. The shawl did indeed turn out lovely, and if it wasn’t for the fact that I’ve been inside and sick for almost 3 weeks now, I would have used it every day.

But I will not make this pattern again. I know its hard to design a pattern, and this is no critique to the designer, but there is errors, and I would feel bad if I didn’t let people know about it. This shawl might look easy, and a beginner might see it and think “hey, just garter and some leafes, I can make this” but It’s not certain that you can. There are yarn overs missing in the pattern, there’s no row counts, there are small errors here and there. I followed the written pattern, and the charted version might not have these faults. Lucky for me I have knitted a lot of lace and a lot of leafes, so I know how these things are constructed, that helped me a lot, but my shawl does have faults, the centre leafe is a bit off centre.

Now to the details:

Yarn: I used my favorite lace yarn; Abuelita yarns merino 3 ply, and I used a little over 500 yards / 460 metres. I knitted it on 4 mm needles, and it took me about a month to make. (heavy ignoring and having startitis affected the time use here ;-)

the pattern is called Alice and is available as a free download from Ravelry, here: http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/alice-18
