DIY birdfeeder hanger

Go and find yourself some driftwood. Put a nail in it. Hang your birdfeeder on it. Voilla! This winter i dont have to stumble in deep snow to fill the feeder.

Happy Valentines day

It’s the day of hearts and love!

In Norway there isn’t much tradtition to celebrate valentines, so we are not celebrating, just a bit. Cause I think valentines is a great excuse to bake my super yummy beer bread on a boring tuesday, buy some brie cheese, and enjoy a nice beer bread and brie-meal with my man later, when the kids are in bed.  <3 so that’s how I will celebrate, when I pretend I am not celebrating.

I endulged in some origami a couple of weeks ago, and since I made mostly hearts I thought this was a good day to post the pictures. I never really had the patience for origami, but these tutorials were super easy to follow (I will link to them at the end of this post) and they make great gifts, so I will continue to perfection my tequniqe on this :-)

Origiami heart bookmarks

Its not too late to make one or two of these as a valentines gift to someone! :-)

here’s the how to’s I used:

Button mad

I have jars filled with buttons. Do you? I have one jar with not so pretty buttons that I dont have two or more of. Then I have one jar of pretty, two similar or more-buttons, and then I have a jar of pretty pretty buttons that I have plans to use in my knitting. I sometimes take a dive in jar two and make some ear studs, or rings, but then there’s jar one, just standing there, failing to look tempting and pretty. What to do, what to do.

Well I found the solution! I was at a store one day, and came a cross these magnets in different sizes, then a light bulb showed up over my head, and I bought lots of magnets, and headed home.

Glue is your friend, ugly buttons are not so ugly, great presents, your fridge will look cool and stylish. I give you: button magnets!

here they are on my fridge, and yes that is indeed tickets to go on a date with Eddie Vedder! errr, I mean tickets to a Pearl Jam concert!

hello there,december sunday.

I’m baking today.

I will bake serina cookies later. Its a traditional norwegian little cookie made with butter and sugar and flour, with almonds on top.

when I am not baking I am reading this and laughing, cause its stupid and hilarous (Hey girl. I’ll always know it was you who started the owl craze) and knitting on a west. Later today I will face one of my fears: short rows and wrap and turn.

what are you doing on a sunday?

have a good one!

Happy turkey day to my american readers.

I am going away for the weekend, but before I leave I just wanted to show you something. In Norway, in kindergarden we have all made dorullnisser, aka toiletroll-santas. (I even made the 3 wise men once, advanced!) but dorullnisser is soo the 80’s!  After seeing these all over the webs (well, Pinterest mostly) I just had to try, so here are my attempt at toiletroll owl, and I even made a kitty. (our collection has expanded since I made these, as the kid also jumped on the trend, we now have a shelf full of these)

have a good weekend, make a owl or four!
